Philippians (Program #6a) - Magnifying Christ by Living Him (1)

Philippians is a book that shows the reality of experiencing Christ. The apostle Paul presents himself as the living witness as the one who experience Christ in the depth of his being regardless of his outward circumstances or sufferings. Paul had learned the key not just how to endure hardship but how to allow every situation to become an opportunity for Christ to be magnified and expressed even in his body. A wonderful glimpse into the life of a person who was experiencing being one living with our Lord Jesus Christ

31 May 2009 Exodus (Program #28)

Exodus (Program #28) - Pharaoh’s Last Struggle

God’s complete salvation includes redemption, escape from the world and baptism.  These 3 elements are all vividly portrayed in the book of Exodus.  As we see ourselves again and again through the depiction of this wonderful book.  Pharaoh, representing God’s enemy plays a key role in God’s bringing His people Israel through these stages of complete salvation.  How does He use Pharaoh in our lives today?  That will be our focus on our life study of the Bible.

Today’s program brings us to a very marvelous presentation of the escape of the children of Israel from the pursuing Pharaoh and his Egyptian army.  Through the first 14 chapters of Exodus, we have seen a lot of things but there are really 3 significant events related to the Lord’s people; the Passover, their exodus or exit out of Egypt and the crossing of the Red Sea.  As pictures of our own experience, these are really unmatched in Scripture.  What did these sections refer to in our experience?

30 May 2009 Philippians (Program #5)

Philippians (Program #5) - The Bountiful Supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ

The bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ is a crucial expression and it would be our focus on today’s life study of the the Bible from Philippians.

We want to discuss this bountiful supply which is Paul found out can cause negative situation to actually turn out to salvation.

We want to begin by looking at the meaning of the Greek word as we find it in the text here. It’s translated in the Recovery version of the Bible as “the bountiful supply”. The word in Greek refers to a chorus leader, the leader of a chorus.  In Greek term probably pronounce as “choragus” And this is the one who supply all of the needs of the chorus. In fact in ancient time this choir leader or ” choragus” supply not just the needs of the group in a general way, but also provided for every need of each individual chorus member. It is a marvelous example how the Spirit of Jesus Christ takes care of us.

30 May 2009 Exodus (Program #27)

Exodus (Program #27) - Israel’s Exodus from Egypt (2)

In the exodus of God’s people, the Lord appeared to them in a marvelous way to lead them in the path that He had chosen.  Exodus chapter 13:21-22 said “And Jehovah went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them on the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might go by day and by night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night departed from before the people.”  A cloud by day and a fire by night but always able to be seen.  This is our theme on today’s life study of the Bible.

We return to the book of Exodus today and the remarkable journey of God’s people out of the bondage of their worldly captivity and through the wilderness.  It has become more and more clear that their journey is really our own journey.

29 May 2009 Exodus (Program #26)

Exodus (Program #26) - Israel’s Exodus from Egypt (1)

In New Testament terms, to have an exodus is to get out of the world.  However, without the picture in the book of Exodus, it’s difficult to say just how we are to get out of the world.  Even to talk about it without consulting the picture may lead us into confusion.  How we thank the Lord for the picture and the ministry we have today to unveil this picture to us.

We are talking about an exodus from the world depicted for us graphically in the book of Exodus.  The way this picture is presented in this message is very illuminating and very compelling.  We need to realize that experiential many many believers today have experienced Christ as their Passover.  God has passover them, the blood of the Lamb has redeemed them from the righteous judgment of God, but they remained in Egypt, still needing to make an exodus, so that God’s purpose to have a dwelling place can be fulfilled.  more…

28 May 2009 Philippians (Program #3)

Philippians (Program #3) - Paul’s Suffering for the Gospel and His Enjoyment of Grace

Through out the ages many people had suffered for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Among these the apostle Paul stand prominently. In fact in many of his Epistles they are specific references and even details regarding not only his suffering but also the suffering we may experience as well. Philippians gives us such an account not just the suffering because of his willingness to preach the gospel in a general way.

Today on our life study of the Bible we will see Paul as an example not just of suffering but as one who also had the enjoyment of grace under suffering and the high gospel for which he had suffered.

This phrase” enjoyment of grace under suffering”, almost sounds like kind of contradiction to our natural ear…

28 May 2009 Exodus (Program #25)

Exodus (Program #25) - The Passover (3)

The redemption of Christ is mysterious and well beyond our natural understanding in all its rich significance.  Without the Old Testament picture of the Passover we have no way of seeing all the wonderful and mysterious details and aspects of Christ eternal redemption.  How we thank the Lord for this portrait of redemption from the book of Exodus.

We are being treated to some tremendous insights and deeper appreciation of our redemption in Christ.  As we are seeing it through this picture of the Old Testament Passover.  What strikes me is that it’s the details of the Passover, properly interpreted that really hold the key to our understanding.

27 May 2009 Philippians (Program #2)

Philippians (Program #2) - The Church in Philippi

Have you ever wonder why there are so much dissension, division among genuine Christians?  It is not new among believers of Christ today, the apostle Paul addressed this problem in his Epistle to the Philippians as well as many other places. And we are going to visit Philippians today.  We promise you some new insights from God’s word.

Let’s look at Philippians 1:1, it says “Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the overseers and deacons”. Philippians is the only book in the New Testament that uses this phrase “to all the saints with the overseers and deacons”.  We are going to find out how this phrase is a window into God’s administration, His plan for administration for the church.

27 May 2009 Exodus (Program #24)

Exodus (Program #24) - The Passover (2)

The record of the Passover given in Exodus is very detailed.  No where else in Scriptures do we find such a detailed account of Christ’s redemption.  For His redemption is the clear message of the Passover.  The reason for all the detail is that God wants us to know the redemption of Christ in a thorough way.  It’s God intention is that we neither neglect or forget this redemption, but that we remember and appreciate it at all time, even in its marvelous details.

Our message today continues the one we had yesterday, dealing with the institution of the Passover feast for the children of Israel.  When we read these verses in Exodus 12 and 13, we can’t help but be impressed by all the detail.  Why is there such detail given in the Scriptures to this Old Testament matter of the Passover?
