Genesis (Program #109) – Blessing

In some of our previous studies, we’ve covered the matter of blessing, but mostly in a passing way or in a way of comparison with grace, which is a more inward experience of God.  But today we focus the whole message on blessing.  How does the blessing of the divine revelation that we are going to see today differ from our traditional or religious concept?

Romans (Program #13) – The Bondage of the Law in Our Flesh (1)

Today we come to the wonderful truth in Romans chapter 7. Though a little difficult to understand, if any Christian sees the truth in this chapter, his Christian life will be liberated and revolutionized and he will know the real way to experience Christ.

Today we are coming to one of the most critical and striking of all the messages in this life study of Romans.  We will be brought into a view today that will surprise and enlighten us very much.

Romans chapter 7 is a continuation of Paul’s explaining to the Romans how they can live in grace… Abraham was justified by faith, but then God expected him to enjoy grace to bring forth Isaac, and this Isaac is the experience of Christ. This is a continuation of explaining how you can practically experience living this kind of life and grace. And in particular, in this chapter, he stresses how we are free from the law…

Genesis (Program #108) – The Manifestation of Maturity (1)

Our life study again today brings us to the matter of maturity and transformation from Genesis chapter 45 through 48.

We have a life study today in which transformation as signified by the life experience of Jacob.  It’s really looked at in its final stage, the stage of maturity.  What does the Bible refers to when it speaks of transformation?

Romans (Program #12) – Identification with Christ

In this life study of Romans, we see that all that we have in Adam. We also see all that we have in Christ. All we have in Adam is but sin and death; I in Christ inherit life and righteousness – what a debit in Adam, what a credit in Christ!

From time to time, the Bible gives us a heavenly accounting lesson. Today is one of those lessons from the book of Romans.

We have been seeing there is a major shift in Romans chapter 5. A shift from the realm of man’s doings and deeds to the man himself, his person.  Romans 5:12 is a very clear verse – “Therefore just as through one man sin entered into the world, and through sin, death; and thus death passed on to all men because all have sinned.”  This book marks a great turn in the book of Romans.  more…

Genesis (Program #107) – The Process of Maturity (2)

Today we are going to examine Jacob again and really see two matters concerning him; transformation and maturity.  Of course, we are looking at Old Testament pictures to illustrate these items.  Where are these things found in the New Testament?

Romans (Program #11) – The Gift in Christ Surpassing the Heritage in Adam

We praise the Lord for His redemption, that He redeemed us judicially, but there is much more. He wants to save us day-by-day in His life by the dispensing of His life into us. This is the much more Christian life.  Our salvation begins with God forgiving us of all of our sins, but His full salvation includes much more than this. It includes His life freeing us from the power of sin.

This is a tremendous life-study because we move into a significant new section of Romans.  So far, we’ve seen God’s condemnation and His justification. The first few chapters of Romans unveil God’s condemnation on mankind generally, then on the self-righteous particularly, then we see His condemnation on the religious specifically, and finally on all the world totally. more…

Genesis (Program #106) – The Process of Maturity (1)

Today we come to Genesis 37 and this is a very rich portion of God’s Word.  I think many will be surprised.  Because many people I presume begin to read the Bible in Genesis 1 and may be give up before they get to this rich portion of the book.  It has so much practical application to our own life situations.

Romans (Program #10) – The Result of Justification – The Full Enjoyment of God In Christ

There is nothing more welcome to a sinner’s ears than to hear that he has been forgiven of his sins and is justified before God. Today, you will hear some further marvelous results of justification.

In chapter 4 of Romans, there is this graphic example of justification made clear through the experience of Abraham.  Chapters 3 & 4 of Romans show us two aspects of justification.   Chapter 3 deals with an objective and positional justification which was accomplished by the death of Christ.   more…

Romans (Program#9) – The Subjective Experience of Justification (2)

The matter of justification should bring us all the way back to God’s eternal purpose to enjoying the Tree of Life and fulfilling the desire God had for man.

There’s a wonderful realization about Romans that Paul seems to be gazing at many of the major items of the Old Testament as he composed the book of Romans. We have the blessing of having a book written by a man who was very knowledgeable concerning the Old Testament through his experience in Judaism and his much learning – he certainly knew the Old Testament. Then as he wrote this letter to the Romans, he brought those images, those illusions, and even examples to enrich the teaching that he was doing with the truth from the Old Testament. And it makes it very rich and very clear and we have said here many times that what is said in plain words in the New Testament is often said in pictures, examples, stories in the Old Testament which help us to know in more details what those plain words refer to. This is certainly the case in the matter of Abraham.
