Anyone who has ever read the Bible, or even learn Bible stories as a child has come into contact with numerous parables which are stories that illustrate important lessons from the scripture. We all probably have our favorites because parables are a rich component of God’s word to man. But in addition to the moral or lesson to be learned from the parable individually, the way they are combined and arranged in the Bible is also meaningful. That aspect will become especially clear as we come to three well-known parables in Luke 15.

If one were to take a pull of Bible scholars through out the centuries as to which of the four gospels is the most important, very few would probably pick the gospel of Mark. In many ways it’s overshadowed by the grandeur of Matthew, the depth of John or the magnitude of Luke. In fact to many non-scholars Mark is mainly thought of as a collection of their favorite Bible stories that are good for children and new believers.

But if our eyes are enlightened as Paul the apostle prayed in Ephesians, then we can obtain a controlling vision from the pages of Mark, a vision of the life lived by the wonderful God Man, Jesus. A life that was 100% according to and for God’s New Testament economy.

Most believers are seem to have a particular love for the book of the Psalms. The Psalms, far more than just a random collection of Bible stories and doctrines, actually flow out of the deep feelings, expressions and experiences of godly men. And what flows out of these ones?  Though at times reflecting their human thought and concept, at other times expresses the deep and profound thought of God directly. God’s speaking through this book is full of the divine revelation and if we possess the keys to enter into this divine revelation, the Psalms will become even more precious more enlightening and will usher us all into God’s presence, His heart and especially His heart’s desire.
