Exodus (Program #55) – Keeping the Law of God by Loving Him and His Word and Becoming One with Him (2)

From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible reveals many deep and mysterious truths. Perhaps the greatest mystery is that it reveals two simple persons, one male and one female. And the romance that ensues between these two persons, it begins in the first pages of Genesis and continues throughout the entire Bible until it is ultimately consummated in the closing passages of Revelation. Have you ever seen the divine romance?

This message is full of vision, and depth, and unveils God’s eternal purpose; and that He has been propelled by His love for man, and He desires above all to enjoy man as His loving counterpart for eternity. This is quite a view of the Bible; a different view that is commonly spoken of and experienced by believers today. To see this kind of love relationship is really a hidden part in the Word of God.

Exodus (Program #53) – God Seeking Lovers in Giving His Law to His People

The law of God, or the ten commandments as they’re commonly known, can have a very unpleasant connotation. Usually, they represent a demand on us that we know we cannot meet. So like most things that we can’t handle, our tendency is to avoid them, or try to explain them away, or otherwise, distance ourselves. But rather than being something to create distance between God and man, God’s view of the commandments is that they would draw and bind man to Himself, even as the marriage vows bind a loving couple for life.

There is a marvelous revelation ahead of us here that’s thoroughly and absolutely grounded in the Scriptures. And when we compare scripture with scripture, and consider the giving of the law in light of the total divine revelation, especially concerning the divine romance, we have a wonderful and delightful surprise…

Romans (Program #4) – The Source of Wickedness and the Way of Restriction

We can be protected so that for the sake of God’s interest, God’s purpose – yes, for the sake of the divine romance, we may be preserved vessels that the Lord can train, fill, and use, to fulfill His heart’s desire of a bride, a wife, for eternity.

We have a message today that includes a strong section on God’s condemnation. We know that as believers in Christ, we have been saved from God’s condemnation, so why we are going back today to see the source of wickedness and the way of restriction?… more…

Romans (Program #2) – A Foreword

God wants to fill us with Himself to such an extent that we are swallowed up by His life even in our mortal bodies until we become in full His many sons to glorify Him.

There are probably more studies and expositions of the book of Romans than nearly any other New Testament book. But this study is unique in that we want to take the view of how we want to enjoy Christ as our life and life supply so that He can be everything to us for the building up of the Body of Christ to consummate the New Jerusalem as God’s unique goal in this universe. more…

Romans (Program #1) – A Foreword

Our God is a God of newness and we enjoy Him and apply Him for this new start in the Life-Study series.

Historically, Romans has been presented and studied as one of the great books of Christian doctrine and theology. Certainly we will recognize it in this way and touch these bulwarks of the truth in the weeks ahead, but that will not be our primary emphasis in this Life-Study of Romans. Although we in no way intend to minimize the significance of Romans as a basic book of doctrine and theology – more…

Hosea (Program #2) – On Hosea (1)—The Introductory Word and The Symbol of a Wife of Harlotries (1)

Do you realize that the subject of the two bookends of the Bible is the same?  It is marriage.   The Bible both begins and ends with the loving union of a husband and a wife.  In Genesis chapter two, the couple is Adam and Eve.  In Revelation 21 and 22, the couple is Christ and the church which becomes the New Jerusalem.  In fact the entire Bible is the story of Romance.  A romance between God and His corporate people.  In Genesis, Adam is really a type of Christ and Eve a type of the church.  In Song of Songs, Solomon typifies Christ while the Shulammite maiden represents the church.   In the books of the prophets, the bride is typified by the nation of Israel.  So now we can see truly the Bible is a romance, the story of a divine person pursuing, wooing and eventually winning the delight of His heart.  By Revelation 21, we are told that the bride has made herself ready and that she is spotless and without blemish.  But she was not always so.  As we see in many places in the Bible, like Hosea, this bride needs much work before she can be ready to be presented to the most lovely and attractive One in the universe, the Lamb of God, our dear Lord Jesus, our bridegroom.

Daniel (Program #13) – Human Government Fighting Against God and Being Crushed by Christ in His Coming With His Bride

Have you ever wondered why God doesn’t just snuff out His enemy Satan and all of His evil and corrupt followers with just the tip of His finger?  Of course as the all powerful and all mighty One, He could do it this way.  But in His infinite wisdom and eternal plan, God has chosen another way.  A way that involves His redeemed and chosen elect, in other words – us.  We will examine this marvelous mystery in today’s life-study of Daniel.

A mysterious and marvelous romance is revealed throughout the Bible.  To understand this mystery we have to know that the whole Bible is a divine romance.  In the beginning of the Bible,  you have a marriage between Adam and his wife Eve and in the end of the Bible we see the same thing.  Christ marries His Bride and this Bride consummates in the New Jerusalem who is the wife of the Lamb.  And Christ and His wife lives a married life for eternity.  That is the way the Bible ends.  We can see from the beginning to the end the whole Bible is a romance and this romance is developed from Genesis through Revelation…

Song of Songs (Program #10) – The Four Stages of Spiritual Experience in Song of Songs

To enter into the real intrinsic significance of the Song of Songs, we have to first understand that this lovely, short, poetic love story is actually a detailed portrait of the lover of Christ’s personal and intimate experience of Him. The full experience of the believer is shown in the four stages in the book of Song of Songs beginning with pursuing Him, then experiencing the cross and dying to the self, followed by living in ascension and becoming a new creation, and finally responding to the highest call to Christian life – to pass through the veil of the flesh, to dwell in God Himself and allow Him to dwell in us. If we have a clear view of these four stages, we will not only fully understand this book, but we will have priceless understanding that will sustain us through our whole Christian life.

Joshua (Program #12) – The Saving of Gibeon

One of the most interesting aspects of the relationship between husbands and wives is how easily and freely the wife can agreed to do something often involving money without checking first with her husband. The husbands also make the same mistake with unfortunate frequency and result is usually the same. A cooling trend seems to over take the relationship for a period of time and the sweetness at least for a season is gone .

God’s relationship to Israel in the Old Testament was also as a husband and the Israel was as His wife. Listen to Israel Jeremiah chapter 2, “Thus says Jehovah: I remember concerning you the kindness of your youth, The love of your bridal days, When you followed after Me in the wilderness.”  So what happened in this marriage when the wife acted on her own? Predictably the result was always a suffering for Israel. Such a case is recorded in Joshua 9, the story of the Gibeonites.

Today’s message touches the very essence of the divine romance; a favorite subject of the life study of the Bible and also a topic that Witness Lee frequently came to in his ministry.

04 Nov 2010 Divine Romance

With our last program of Song of Songs, we have now concluded all of our life study in the Old Testament. In Song of Songs, which is an extract of the whole Bible, the seeking believer, who typifies us as the seeking believers of Christ, prays to the Lord : “Draw me…” (v.2), “Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth” (v.4). This shows that we need to have a personal and affectionate relationship with our dear Lord Jesus. We should tell the Lord, “Lord, draw me to Yourself. Lord, kiss me with the kisses of Your mouth.” We need to tell the Lord every day, even right now, “Lord Jesus, I love You”.  This is to be in the divine romance.  May we all give ourselves to love the Lord.

  1. How could a country girl like me
    Become Your match — Your bride to be?
    You’re holy and You are divine
    But I’m fallen and human.
    Without You, Lord, I have no chance
    To be like You in this romance.
    But You chose me ere the world began
    Nothing could change Your plan.

    This divine romance
    Is My heart’s deep plan.
    I became a lowly man
    To court My country girl.
    Nothing could deter,
    Nothing can alter
    My eternal love for her;
    I’ll gain My country girl.

  2. No man or angel ever knew
    This secret hidden deep in You
    That You desired to be one with man
    Before the world began.
    Though sin came in to ruin me
    Through Satan’s scheme and subtlety
    Nothing could break Your love for me
    To gain me totally.

    This divine romance
    Is My heart’s deep plan,
    I became a lowly man
    To court My country girl.
    Nothing could deter,
    Nothing can alter
    My eternal love for her;
    I’ll gain My country girl.

  1. As King of kings You became a man,
    You died for me—I’ve been redeemed,
    In resurrection made us queen
    To marry You, my King.
    From death You ‘rose and entered me,
    I now possess Your divinity;
    In life and nature we’re the same:
    Both human and divine.

    In Your love I’m drawn,
    To You I belong;
    I am not my own, Lord,
    I’m Yours alone.
    By Your love I’m drawn,
    In Your name I’m charmed,
    And Your Person captured me,
    For I’ve been kissed by Thee.

  2. Lord, in this close sweet fellowship,
    Lord, be with me so intimate,
    So personal and affectionate;
    A sweet relationship.
    Lord, daily change my inward being
    Lord, all my heart possessing
    In all my being—transforming
    To be Your bride and queen.

    In Your love I’m drawn,
    To You I belong;
    I am not my own, Lord,
    I’m Yours alone.
    By Your love I’m drawn,
    In Your name I’m charmed,
    And Your Person captured me,
    For I’ve been kissed by Thee.
