Through the centuries believers and Bible scholars alike appreciated the epistle of Peter for giving us a clear presentation of God’s government. Surely this point is the subject of these books. But woven through out Peter’s epistles as well as the epistle of Jude is a basic structure, a central line of focus that if we neglect will leave us far removed from the reality of living a life that is actually under God’s government.  It’s this basic structure of these three books that is our subject for the final two programs.

The politics of the world shows us a few models for how mankind govern himself. There are dictatorships and monarchies on one hand and various forms of democracy on the other. One is according to the opinions of one man and the others are according to the opinions of the people. Logically as God’s people, a kind of spiritual nation we may bring one or the other of these model into the Church. But Israel, God’s Old Testament people received detail instructions of how they were to be governed. Neither as a democracy or as autocracy but with a divine government a government by God and according to what God is.

Ask yourself this question “what is the center of the universe?”  Well, we many not know the answer as a point in space.  But the Bible shows us that in reality, the center, the focus of the universe is the unique , preeminent and all-inclusive person, Christ.  God’s government which administrates the universe also has a center and focus; and this is the cross of Christ.  These two items which are also the focus of the whole Bible, Christ and the cross.  One Person and one way.
