Exodus (Program #87) – The Ark of the Testimony (4)

In the Old Testament, the blood of the sacrifice was sprinkled on the altar to atone for the sins of the people.  This blood was a precursor of the real blood shed for sin, the blood of Christ.  But in the Old Testament, there was another use for the blood.  It needed to be sprinkled on the cover of the Ark of the Testimony in the Holy of Holies, where the crucial items was not sins but the glory of God.  The blood sprinkled on the very spot where God met and spoke with man is our focus on today’s life study of the Bible with Witness Lee.

We are going to look at the tabernacle’s outward configuration…

Exodus (Program #82) – The Vision of the Tabernacle and Its Furniture and Concerning the Materials and the Pattern (2)

The Old Testament book of Exodus records the Exodus or exit of God’s people out of the bondage and slavery of Egypt. This is a marvelous type of our own salvation from the tyranny of sin and the world. Yet the actual Exodus occupies less than half of the chapter in the book of Exodus. So what is the focus of the rest of the book?
Stay with us today, we will discover far more than just our salvation from our sins and the world.

God’s revelation to Moses concerning the building of the tabernacle. This may be a fairly unfamiliar topic to many people. A brief word just what the tabernacle was in the Old Testament.

Actually was the goal of Exodus. This tabernacle was a material building, build out of specially designated materials that God reveal to Moses what to use and how to use it and detail. When you get the picture of the tabernacle as a whole. There is an outer court with a wall around it, not a board wall, nor a stone wall but a cloth wall goes all around the outer court. And at the entrance, that is from the wilderness where the Israelite lived coming into the tabernacle there is an entrance there with a curtain. more…

Hebrews (Program #61) – The Budding Rod (1)

In this message we see that Aaron’s budding rod is a type of the resurrected, living, feeding Christ as God’s authority. May we all get into the Holy of Holies, that is, into our spirit to enjoy this Christ as the resurrection life for the fulfillment of God’s eternal purpose.

When rebellion rose up among God’s people, He provided a test to make clear who was His chosen authority. This case makes for an interesting Bible story but far more the details reveal remarkable insights into God’s heart’s desire for the accomplishment of His purpose.

Hebrews (Program #59) – The Manna in the Golden Pot

In the Old Testament, manna was something given by God to his people openly and freely. But, a small portion of this manna was offered by the priest back to God and hidden within a golden pot in the Holy of Holies. This hidden portion in the golden pot represents something so rich in experience.

Hebrews (Program #51) – Discipline for Holiness

In today’s life study, we look at the Christian walk: A walk of holiness, righteousness, and peace as we enter into the Holy of Holies in our everyday Christian life.

The tabernacle of the old testament is a marvelous picture of our experience of Christ, and is a favorite theme in the book of Hebrews. At the center of the tabernacle is the Holy of Holies. Holy, because God’s very presence is there. But, we can also be there as we will see in today’s life study of the Bible.

Hebrews (Program #44) – Come Forward to the Holy of Holies and Do Not Shrink Back to Judaism

The call to come forward is a striking element in the book of Hebrews. God’s desire for us is not just to come forward to receive Him for salvation, but we need to live a life of continually coming forward to God in Christ and through the spirit for our daily living. This is our focus today on the life study of the Bible.

The program today is going to begin with a brief review of some of the points that we’ve been covering in our recent broadcasts. Then we are going to launch into an examination of this marvelous phrase that appears at least four times in Hebrews. In the Recovery version, this phrase is translated as “come forward”. It’s really one Greek word but it takes the two words “come forward” to capture the essence of it – and it’s a call from God to His people.

The comparison of the Old Testament tabernacle with the real tabernacle today, the place of God’s presence and glory is our focus. Throughout Hebrews we are continually presented with items/features from the Old Testament and then shown them in their New Testament reality. Today, we’re going to see the tabernacle in such a light.

2 Thessalonians (Program #4) – A Further Word of Encouragement

According to 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 there are three definite things that need to take place prior to the Lord’s second coming and the rapture of the church.

First, the apostasy of God’s people must occur. Then the son of perdition, the man of lawlessness, the one we call anti-Christ must raise up and be revealed. And finally, the temple in the Holy City, Jerusalem must be rebuild, because at the certain point before the visible return of Christ, this anti-Christ sits himself in the temple and exalt himself above all that is called God.

There is no single passage in the Bible gives us all the details and specific timing of the end time events. For those we need to go to many different passages in the Bible. One of the most important of which is found in Daniel chapter 9 in the Old Testament and what is known as the 70 weeks of Daniel.

Daniel 9:24 says:”Seventy weeks are apportioned for your people and for your holy city, to close the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make propitiation for iniquity, and to bring in the righteousness of the ages, and to seal up vision and prophet, and to anoint the Holy of Holies.”  Well, the 70 weeks unfold in the next few verses and we will do our best to touch them today in a brief way.

1 & 2 Samuel (Program #6) – The History Concerning Samuel (4)

Throughout history the ark of the covenant was crucial to the nation of Israel. The Bible tells us that after the tabernacle was completed in Exodus 40, and the ark was placed in the holy of holies, then the cloud covered the tent of meeting and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle. From that moment on the presence of the Lord was associated with the ark. Whenever Jehovah desire to move on the earth, the ark led the way. In battle as long as Israel was following the Lord, Jehovah leads and the ark was present they knew God was with them and they prevailed. However in the waning years of the ironic priesthood, not only the people in general but even the priest themselves no longer had a heart for the Lord and for His needs. Rather all of their attention were focused on their own needs, their own desire and their own security. And when in this situation they tried to use the ark in a superstitious way. Not only did the ark seem to lose its’ miraculous power but Jehovah allowed it to be taken by Philistines and and separated from the tabernacle. And the result as spoken in 1 Samuel chapter 4:22 was the greatest tragedy, for “the glory has departed from Israel, for the Ark of God has been taken”
