Romans (Program #22) – Heirs of Glory (4)

Most Christians know and have quoted Romans 8:28 that God works all things together for good to those who love Him. Today we are going to find out what is that “good” that God is working for in every Christian’s life.

The value of Romans 8 is hard to overestimate in a Christian’s life.  It tells us in a practical way how we can experience the Spirit as the sanctifying Spirit – the Spirit of life in a practical way to make our mind life by setting our mind upon the spirit, to transform us in that life and even to bring that life into our mortal body.  more…

Romans (Program #19) – Heirs of Glory (1)

We have received a spirit of sonship in which we cry “Abba Father”.  It’s so wonder to sweetly cry “Abba Father”.  If you can only call God, “God”, it may indicate you are not a son of God.  But sons can cry “Abba Father”.

We had a wonderful progression thus far in Romans, from the condemned state mankind is in before he’s saved through justification, sanctification and now onto glorification.  What does it mean that justification is for sanctification and justification is for glorification?

Romans (Program #18) – Sanctification in Life

Salvation is a much bigger word than we might have thought.   It solves not only man’s problem of sin but also God’s problem concerning the satisfying of His divine attributes, of righteousness, holiness and glory.

In today’s life study, we will have a brief but very descriptive review of the three major areas of the first half of Romans; that was our justification, sanctification and glorification.  God’s salvation includes all three of these.  But it seems that we focus primarily on justification and then rapture when we will be glorified with Him.  Why is the matter of sanctification has been either overlooked or much misunderstood in the history of the church?

Romans (Program #11) – The Gift in Christ Surpassing the Heritage in Adam

We praise the Lord for His redemption, that He redeemed us judicially, but there is much more. He wants to save us day-by-day in His life by the dispensing of His life into us. This is the much more Christian life.  Our salvation begins with God forgiving us of all of our sins, but His full salvation includes much more than this. It includes His life freeing us from the power of sin.

This is a tremendous life-study because we move into a significant new section of Romans.  So far, we’ve seen God’s condemnation and His justification. The first few chapters of Romans unveil God’s condemnation on mankind generally, then on the self-righteous particularly, then we see His condemnation on the religious specifically, and finally on all the world totally. more…

Romans (Program#9) – The Subjective Experience of Justification (2)

The matter of justification should bring us all the way back to God’s eternal purpose to enjoying the Tree of Life and fulfilling the desire God had for man.

There’s a wonderful realization about Romans that Paul seems to be gazing at many of the major items of the Old Testament as he composed the book of Romans. We have the blessing of having a book written by a man who was very knowledgeable concerning the Old Testament through his experience in Judaism and his much learning – he certainly knew the Old Testament. Then as he wrote this letter to the Romans, he brought those images, those illusions, and even examples to enrich the teaching that he was doing with the truth from the Old Testament. And it makes it very rich and very clear and we have said here many times that what is said in plain words in the New Testament is often said in pictures, examples, stories in the Old Testament which help us to know in more details what those plain words refer to. This is certainly the case in the matter of Abraham.

Romans (Program #8) – The Subjective Experience of Justification (1)

Faith is not separated from Christ.  It is actually Christ Himself transfusing Himself into us and producing a reaction within us.  And this is our believing, our saving faith.

What is faith?  We know we are saved by it.  Oh how elusive it becomes when we look for it in the wrong place.  Today’s life study is from Roman chapter 4.  We come to a study that has the potential to be a life-changing revelation for many of the Lord’s children regarding faith.  We will see today faith is probably not what most of us supposed.

Romans (Program #7) – The Example of Justification

In this broadcast we see the wonderful God in whom Abraham believed.  He’s the God who gives life to the dead and calls things not being as being. Abraham is the example of justification.

Paul was fully in the view of Genesis as he wrote the epistles to the Romans. In Genesis, the Holy Spirit gives us a crystal clear picture of justification. Apparently, we’re touching doctrinal matters, such as justification, but actually Paul is writing this book based on experience. The proof of this is that he gives us not just merely a doctrinal dissertation related to justification, but he gives us a living model, pattern and example in the person of Abraham. more…

Romans (Program #1) – A Foreword

Our God is a God of newness and we enjoy Him and apply Him for this new start in the Life-Study series.

Historically, Romans has been presented and studied as one of the great books of Christian doctrine and theology. Certainly we will recognize it in this way and touch these bulwarks of the truth in the weeks ahead, but that will not be our primary emphasis in this Life-Study of Romans. Although we in no way intend to minimize the significance of Romans as a basic book of doctrine and theology – more…

Galatians (Program #42) – Walk by the Spirit in the Enjoyment of Christ in our Spirit

To many people, the main item of the book of Romans is justification by faith and the main item in Galatians is to be free from the bondage of the law. Although both of these truths are present in these two books, the real goal and focus of both books is something else. For both Romans and Galatians reveal that God’s purpose or economy in justifying us and freeing us is for one thing – to make forgiven sinners into genuine sons of God in life.

Galatians (Program #8) – The Truth of the Gospel

What is the function of the commandments to a Christian? Well perhaps first, it would be best to see what it’s not. The Apostle Paul in Galatians says it very well. “And knowing that a man is not justified out of works of law, but through faith in Jesus Christ … because out of the works of law no flesh will be justified” (Galatians 2:16). If the law was not given in order to justify man before God, then why was it given? We’ll open up this mysterious box on today’s life study of the Bible.
