Exodus (Program #147) – The Laver of Bronze

All of us as genuine Christians surely love the fact that we have been washed from our sins by the blood of the Lamb.  This is one of the basic experiences of the Christian life.  But there is another kind of washing presented to us in the Bible, not washing by His precious blood, but the washing of pure water.  This washing is not about our sins.  Yet it is absolutely necessary for us to have this washing as well.  What is this washing by water?  We will find out on today’s life study of the Bible.

Exodus (Program #136) – The Sanctification of Aaron and His Sons to be the Priests (7)

Exodus chapter 28 and 29 gave us a detailed picture of how the priests prepare themselves for the services in the tabernacle.  But it’s the goal of that preparation that is most interesting.  Following the elaborate washing and dressing, came a time of feasting, both for God and man.  Once again, the unveiling of the details in Exodus provide us with real help in our own enjoyment with Savior Christ.

John (Program #32) – Life’s Washing in Love to Maintain Fellowship (2)

We need to be those who actually experience Christ as life meeting our various needs.  The more we experience Him this way the more we are constituted with Him as the life that washes our brothers and sisters.

Here at a certain point, as the Lord was acutely aware that He was leaving the world and going to the Father, He engaged in a very particular, significant, and touching action.  He laid aside His garments.  That’s a sign.  He girded Himself with a towel, another sign.  And, He began to wash the disciples’ feet.  This is still yet another sign.  And in particular He said, “What I have done to you, you should do to one another.  If I, who am your Lord and master, has washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet”.

Psalms (Program #24) – Three Categories of Persons Regarding the Enjoyment of God in Christ

To study the Psalms it’s helpful to know their arrangement, many of the Psalms are grouped for us in order to help our understanding.  Psalms 49, 50 and 51 form such a group and show us three categories of persons in their experience and enjoyment of God.  Those depicted in Psalms 49 actually do not have God as their enjoyment but rather are those who put their trust in riches, in their wealth.  Such one missed the real experience and enjoyment of God.  Psalms 50 show us ones who call on the Lord according to His covenant.  This is to call on the Lord Jesus Christ as our mediator between us and God and surely result in deep enjoyment.  Finally Psalms 51 shows us a person in the full realization of his sin.  Repenting, confessing even begging God’s cleansing, forgiveness and washing.  This Psalms give us a real pattern of genuine repentance and will lead us into a richer and deeper experience and enjoyment of God.

Ephesians (Program #51) – Sanctifying, Cleansing, Nourishing and Cherishing

Christians are all the time trying to figure out just how to get God to give them what they want. They do this in their homes, their jobs, their marriages, relationships. And it seems book after book, conference after conference are all one way or another focus on these things.  But one book in the Bible gives us a clear view of what God is after, what God wants. Listen again to Ephesians Chapter 5, “….. Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her. that He might sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing of the water in the word, that He might present the church to Himself glorious, not having spot or wrinkle or any such things, but that she would be holy and without blemish.”  Yes, what God is after is a Church and a glorious Church.

Ephesians (Program #50) – Christ in Three Stages

There is a marvelous passage in Ephesians Chapter 5, related to the relationship of husbands and wives and wives submitting to the husbands and husbands loving their wives. This passage is ofter quoted at wedding services and we may think we know it but as we touch it today, we will see it open up in a way that unveils a view of Christ that most likely we had never encountered before.

Listen to these three verses and see if you can see the three stages of Christ revealed.  “Husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her. that He might sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing of the water in the word, that He might present the church to Himself glorious, not having spot or wrinkle or any such things, but that she would be holy and without blemish.”

We fellowship over this very, very deep, profound portion that often get over looked.
