Romans (Program #60) – The Practice of the Body Life

The testimony of Christ and the testimony of oneness is not a matter of eating and drinking, but it’s really a matter of taking Christ, taking care of Christ and enjoying Christ as the life-giving Spirit, who is our righteousness, who is our peace and who is our joy.

We are coming back again to the later chapters in Romans where we really see a marvelous display of the Body life with the Church life. Is a picture we are going to see today of the practical expression of the Church it was at the time of the Apostles really applicable to us today?

Romans (Program #59) – The Selection of Grace

Besides all the wonderful items included in God’s salvation such as sonship, destination, resurrection, justification, sanctification, transformation, confirmation and glorification we also need to say something of God’s selection.

We have a very helpful program today, dealing with the topic that’s often debated among believers and we are glad that you join us and hope you just stay with us.

This is one of those topics that often comes up among Christians. And there are historically different school of thoughts even theologies concerning this matter. What is the dispute of the issue at hand for those who may not be familiar with this topic of God’s election or selection?

Romans (Program #58) – Righteousness – The Power of the Gospel (2)

Today we come to the matter of righteousness as is related to being sons of God.  Righteousness is both the foundation and the way for us to carry out our sonship.

When we think of power related to the gospel, we usually think about God the Spirit moving in a supernatural way.  But Romans reveals that the power of the gospel is not God’s Spirit but God’s righteousness.  We will see this power on today’s life study.

We saw in the first portion yesterday that righteousness is the foundation of God’s throne and that He had to take care of His righteousness before He can even get to the point of offering us His love and His grace.

Romans (Program #57) – Righteousness – The Power of the Gospel (1)

Our God is righteous.  He is right, He is just, He is righteous in all of His acts.  In the redeeming death of Christ, the righteousness of God was not only manifested – it was satisfied.  And now this righteousness becomes the power of the gospel.

We are going to see in the next two days that God’s righteousness is the power of the gospel and the foudation of our salvation.  This is not a common thought to think of God’s righteousness as the power of the gospel …… what we need to see is not so much the power itself in this particular session; rather, we need to see the reason the gospel is so powerful –  powerful enough to be called “the power of God unto salvation”.  The reason for the power is that the righteousness of God is revealed in the gospel of God.

Romans (Program #56) – Designation by the Mingled Spirit

What we need today is the practical way for us, the Christians, to contact the Lord. As we call upon the name of the Lord Jesus, we touch the Spirit, who is the realization and application of the Triune God.

We may study electricity as a science and learn all of the theoretical truths concerning it, but until we find the switch and turn it on in our own home, it has no application to us. This is a graphic illustration of the Christian life that we have been seeing in the marvelous book of Romans. We’re going to focus on the switch today on our Life-Study of the Bible with Witness Lee.

Romans (Program #55) – Designation by the Spirit of Holiness

Romans 10:12 says, “The same Lord is Lord of all, and rich to all who call upon Him.” Whenever we call upon the dear, sweet name of our Lord Jesus, He is the life-giving Spirit, applies all of His unsearchable riches to us, thus transforming us from sinners in the flesh to sons of God in the spirit for the Body of Christ.

In God’s plan of salvation, we begin as sinners. And upon our believing into Him, we experience His forgiveness. But God’s goal is not just to have forgiven sinners; His goal is to have sons. For sinners to become sons, we need the riches of God’s salvation applied to us, and that’s the focus of our Life-Study of the Bible today.

Romans (Program #54) – Designation by Resurrection

In Romans 1:9 Paul said he served God in the gospel of His Son.  We need to know that the gospel of the Son is the gospel that involves the designation of the many sons of God for the corporate expression of the Triune God in Christ.

Christ the eternal Son of God in the Godhead was designated the firstborn Son of God in His resurrection, paving the way for us to follow Him in this designation.  This is a mysterious but marvelous and very practical aspect of the gospel of God.

Romans (Program #53) – Designation

The goal of the book of Romans is sonship.  Today we see how Christ became the first-born Son of God and how we as the many sons become one with Him to express the Triune God.

Romans is often considered a book focusing on justification or justification by faith.  This is certainly true, but Romans also conveys a deeper truth and that is at its core it unveils God’s work of sonship; making sons out of sinners.  We will look at sonship today on our life study.

Romans (Program #52) – Serving in the Gospel of His Son

In Romans chapter one, we’re exhorted to serve in the gospel of His Son. We may think that this means just to preach the gospel, but we’ll find out today in the Life-Study of the Bible with Witness Lee that to serve God in the gospel of His Son is far more involved than simply telling people the good news of Christ’s salvation.

This title “Serving in the Gospel of His Son” comes from verse 9 of Romans 1 where Paul says “God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the gospel of His Son”. Then in verse 1 of the same chapter, Paul said that he’s separated unto the gospel of God. What we’ll see in this broadcast and what we need to see is that when we refer to the gospel, we’re talking about the full gospel of God. more…

Romans (Program #51) – The Flesh and the Spirit

The Bible reveals to us three big enemies to our Christian life: sin, Satan and death. All of these three take advantage of our fallen flesh to frustrate us, but God’s approach to our flesh may surprise you. That’s the focus on today’s Life-Study of the Bible.

In these chapters in Romans, we’re seeing the three enemies and how they are seen as enemies that reign over us. In Romans 5:21, it mentions that sin reigned in death. In 5:14, it says “death reigned”. We learned from the book of Acts that Satan has some kind of authority like the power of darkness. These are the three big enemies. Now, in 5:17, we are promised that those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through Jesus Christ. more…
