Luke (Program #39) – The Ministry of the Man-Savior in His Human Virtues with His Divine Attributes from Galilee to Jerusalem (19)

Luke Chapter 18 presents us with a parable of two men going up to the temple to pray. One, a religious leader, a Pharisee, and the other a sinner even an evil extortioner. The contrast in their prayer gives us an interesting insight into why the Lord Jesus was drawn not to the so called righteous but to the unrighteous, those who knew they were in captivity and in need of the Jubilee.

Luke (Program #26) – The Ministry of the Man-Savior in His Human Virtues with His Divine Attributes from Galilee to Jerusalem (5)

We are all familiar with the Lord’s prayer.  It is covered in both Matthew and Luke.  But it’s interesting that here in the gospel of Luke immediately following the Lord’s marvelous training of His disciples not just merely in how to pray but how to pray themselves into God, He find Himself in a conflict with demons and dealing with mass rejections.

No doubt thinking that if they receive the proper instruction then they would soon enter into a realm where they received answers to all their prayers. Well, we need to ask ourselves, what is it to pray? Is it just to make our needs and requests known to God and then wait in faith for Him to grant all of our requests? Well, we will get light today from the Gospel of Luke chapter 11 that we have likely never received. We come to this message from Luke on today’s life study of the Bible.

1 John (Program #33) – The Virtues of the Divine Birth to Overcome the World, Death, Sin, the Devil, and the Idols (1)

1 John, a book that stresses divine eternal life, reveals that prayer is crucial in maintaining the fellowship of the divine life.  In chapter 5 it particularly shows us that as members of the Body, we need to pray for the other members.  No doubt it’s common practice among believers to pray for healing for someone in the church who may be sick or for financial blessing for those who may be suffering material shortage.  But do we pray as the apostle John instructs us for the Lord to supply the weaken members with life?  Listen to chapter 5:16 “If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask and he will give life to him, to those sinning not unto death…

Deuteronomy (Program #11) – The Rehearsal of the Law (4)

The matter of God blessing His people is so often spoken of in Christian circles these days. Popular books, detailed the right prayer to pray with the latest method of bringing ourselves into a place where God can bless us.

Surely, God does desire to bless His people, perhaps you pray such a prayer of faith and God had answered you with some material possession. But if the Lord would mercifully open our eyes we would see that even in the Old Testament book like Deuteronomy, the highest blessing for God’s people is just Christ Himself and that we would hold Him fast and live in the sweetness of His presence.

Colossians (Program #40) – Holding the Head, Out From Whom All the Body Grows With The Growth of God

Consider this interesting phrase from Colossians 2:19 “And not holding the Head, out from Whom all the Body … grows with the growth of God.” Well as believers we read such verses and surely none of us will disagree but do we really stop to consider, what is it to hold the Head; and why does it say, “holding the Head” and not holding Christ? Well the answer is that most of us take the Bible for granted. Of course we have our special and favorite passages that that we often quote and understand to some extend.  But for the most part, we skim over accepting what it says but not taking the time or the interest to dig and probe and pray over the word.  Today we will dig and probe and even pray concerning this crucial and important section of Colossians.

Colossians (Program #13) – Presenting Every Man Full-Grown In Christ

It’s a marvelous feeling to share Christ with someone, even pray with them as they accept the Lord Jesus for the first time. But typically, what happens to them after this initial step. Colossians 1:28 says, “[Christ] whom we announce, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom that we may present every man full-grown in Christ;” We need to check within. Are we satisfied just to lead someone to salvation, or are we, as Paul was, burdened, even consumed with their being brought on to maturity.
