Acts (Program #33) – The Propagation in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria through the Ministry of Peter’s Company (25)

After a glorious beginning, the church in Jerusalem underwent a sudden turn and persecution fell heavily upon the church. The trouble and persecution became so heavy in fact that nearly all the believers except the apostles were forced to leave and were scattered, to use the Bible’s own phrase. Was this just God’s enemy reacting to the early success of the gospel or was this a genuine move of God under His sovereign hand?  Stay with us for an enlightening and compelling look at the gospel as it was spread in the first-century church on today’s life study of the Bible.

Acts (Program #32) – The Propagation in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria through the Ministry of Peter’s Company (24)

As Christians today, we likely take it for granted that anyone, despite their background or race, can freely take the salvation afforded by the grace of God through Jesus Christ. But, it wasn’t always that way. The opening of the door of the gospel to the Gentiles or non-Jewish world was a significant and difficult transition in God’s move on the earth. We will consider this key turning point in God’s move on today’s life study of the Bible.

Acts (Program #22) – The Propagation in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria through the Ministry of Peter’s Company (17)

The Kingdom of God must be preached, and must be in our preaching of the Gospel. Otherwise Christ is not the King, He is only a savior that satisfies our need but doesn’t accomplish God’s goal.

After a glorious beginning, the church in Jerusalem underwent a sudden turn and persecution fell heavily upon the church. The trouble and persecution became so heavy that nearly all the believers except the apostles were forced to leave. They were scattered, to use the Bible’s own phrase.  Was this just God’s enemy reacting to the early success of the gospel or was this a genuine move of God under his sovereign hand? Acts (Program #10) – The Propagation in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria through the Ministry of Peter’s Company (5-6)

After Pentecost, there is a new creation on the earth, and that is the most monumental fact of that day. God poured out of His Spirit to create a new entity on the earth, and this is called the Church.

On the day of Pentecost, the first gospel message was preached by a New Testament apostle. Peter, standing with the eleven, unveiled a clear and prevailing word that brought thousands to Christ on that monumental day. The content of Peter’s message remains powerful today, and presents an example of gospel preaching worth our full examination. We continue that examination today on the life study of the Bible.

Acts (Program #1) – The Subject of the Book

All Christians have the idea that the Gospel needs to be preached and people need to be saved, but why is this important to God?  The book of Acts deals quite much with the spreading of the Gospel. But, a deeper investigation reveals something too marvelous and too profound; and, that is the increase for propagation of the very Christ.

Luke (Program #56) – Jubilee (2 & 4)

There is a famous bell in Philadelphia of Pennsylvania with the inscription engraved on it from the Old Testament book of Leviticus, 25:10, which says “Proclaim liberty through out all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.” In the United States this liberty bell is a traditional symbol of U.S. freedom. But the freedom refer to in the Bible is much bigger. It is referred to as Jubilee. The Lord Jesus proclaims this liberty for all mankind, when He announced in Luke 4:18-19, “the Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He has anointed Me to announced the Gospel to the poor, He has sent Me to proclaim the release to the captives and the recovery of sight to the blind to send away in release those who are oppressed to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, the year of Jubilee.”

Luke (Program #20) – The Ministry of the Man-Savior in Galilee (11)

In the gospel of Luke, the Lord Jesus initiates His ministry with a visit to the synagogue in chapter 4 as He reads from the Old Testament prophet Isaiah. He proclaims that His ministry is the fulfillment of the hidden but marvelous prophecy in the Old Testament regarding the Jubilee.   Chapter 4:14-19 “And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee. And reports about Him went out through all the surrounding region. And He taught in their synagogues and was glorified by all. And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up, and according to His custom He entered on the Sabbath day into the synagogue and stood up to read. And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to announce the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send away in release those who are oppressed, To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, the year of jubilee.” As we fellowship now beyond just a proclamation, declaration of the Jubilee we come to its application in chapter 9.
