1 Corinthians (Program #42) – An Overview of 1 Corinthians

In the entire book of 1 Corinthians of course there are many wonderful verses. We may each have our favorites. But two verses are particularly worth a special consideration. Particularly because they carried great import and meaning but are so often overlooked.

1 Corinthians 12:13 “For also in one Spirit we were all baptized into one Body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and were all given to drink one spirit.”

We may have heard this verse mentioned but usually only the first portion, in one Spirit we were all baptized.

And then the other verse demands our attention is found in chapter 15:45 “So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul”; the last Adam became a life-giving Spirit.”

Romans (Program #12) – Identification with Christ

In this life study of Romans, we see that all that we have in Adam. We also see all that we have in Christ. All we have in Adam is but sin and death; I in Christ inherit life and righteousness – what a debit in Adam, what a credit in Christ!

From time to time, the Bible gives us a heavenly accounting lesson. Today is one of those lessons from the book of Romans.

We have been seeing there is a major shift in Romans chapter 5. A shift from the realm of man’s doings and deeds to the man himself, his person.  Romans 5:12 is a very clear verse – “Therefore just as through one man sin entered into the world, and through sin, death; and thus death passed on to all men because all have sinned.”  This book marks a great turn in the book of Romans.  more…

John (Program #39) – The Organism of the Triune God in the Divine Dispensation (3)

Those who refuse Christ and who stay in Adam by so doing will remain one with Satan, and as a result will participate in the judgment reserved for God’s enemy.

In this chapter (John 15), the Lord speaks plainly, directly, and profoundly concerning the divine organism. And, He says, “I am the true vine, you are the branches.” So, here we have a corporate entity. The vine with its branches composed of Christ as the embodiment and manifestation of the triune God. And, all those who have believed into Christ by receiving Him into them. The Lord calls this the true vine, the real vine. What we have in this marvelous picture is God the Father embodied in Christ who is the stock of the vine. And, all the believers who have been added to Christ, to become parts of Christ, just as the branches of the vine are parts of the vine to be an organism. So, now we have on this earth the living, divine organism of Christ and His believers, the vine and the branches.

Genesis (Program #24) – God’s Dealing with Man’s First Fall (1)

Today Witness Lee is going to develop and expound more on Genesis 3:9-15.

What these verses talk about is what happened to Adam and Eve after they fell and partook of the wrong tree and the element of Satan which is sin, entered into their being.  This passage of Scriptures started off by God asking Adam “where are you?”

Judges (Program #5) – The Miserable History of Israel’s Forsaking God (4)

The Bible begins with the story of Adam and how he gained a wife, Eve. In the New Testament of course we find out that Adam is a type of Christ, the very God and Eve, a type of God’s people, the Church.  So, from the beginning the Bible becomes a book of the marriage of God Himself with His people.  Yet by chapter 3 of Genesis, God’s enemy comes in to seduce man, to forsake God as their husband.  The result of this separation or divorce is the story of the chaotic history of mankind. Whatever nation, whatever group, whatever person forsakes God to become involves in something else ends up in a chaotic situation.  Israel’s history has seen this story repeated again and again in a cycle after cycle and soberly as we consider the situation even in the church, we’ see the same thing today.

Galatians (Program #13) – Christ and the Spirit

If you’ve been following along with us, you realize that today we’re scheduled to bring you a life study message from the book of Galatians. We really thought we were going to. When we begin work on this particular program, we knew we had a tape of Witness Lee from 1979 that was going to be difficult. But, we thought we’d be able to restore it to a condition that was acceptable to broadcast. But in our final review, we realize the audio quality of that old recording just did not meet our standards. So we’ve decided to bring you instead, a highlight program from the life study of Romans. This program deals with very much the same topic as the Galatians message we were scheduled to bring you. We think you’ll enjoy this.

To find our way out of this experience of Romans 7, we need to see in detail what this experience is. And, I believe this can be a big help to us today. The first thing we need to see is although this is the experience of an unsaved person, nearly all Christians can identify with this chapter. Romans 5 speaks of the truth of being in Adam, where as when we come to Romans 6, we see what the truth is of being in Christ. When we come to Romans 7, what we see is the experience of someone who is in Adam. And, of course Romans 7 describes a very terrible situation that we would like to be delivered from. Eventually when we come to Romans 8 and we will come to Romans 8 in a future broadcast, this shows us the experience of being in Christ. We’re in Christ doctrinally and positionally. But, we want to have the daily experience of being in Christ through the law of the Spirit of life.
