1 & 2 Samuel (Program #14) – The History Concerning David (2)

Throughout the ages, many have opposed God and oppressed His people. On one hand, it could be said that God has many enemies; but actually God has only one unique enemy – man. Man fights against God and this man is the flesh. The teaching regarding the flesh is found in many New Testament books and passages like Galatians 5 that tells us that, “For the flesh lusts against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh; for these oppose each other that you would not do the things that you desire.” But it takes the Old Testament pictures and types to illustrate how we all are subject to the evil of the flesh and how diligent we all must be to keep it where the Lord Jesus left crucified on the cross. If our eyes are open, we will see these Old Testament books such as 1 Samuel in a different, fresh and very new way that brings these things into a sharper focus.

Colossians (Program #5) – Christ-The Preeminent and All-Inclusive One, The Centrality and Universality Of God

God has often dealt with man through the promises that he has made to man. And these promises begin as early as Genesis chapter 3. But not until Genesis 12 did a promise of God include blessing or enjoyment for man. This promise of blessing to Abraham was altogether to do with the good land of Israel. But the Apostle Paul in the New Testament book of Galatians repeats that promise in the context of “blessing and enjoyment promise by God to us, His New Testament people”. So what does the land, so preeminent in Genesis, so preeminent in the Old Testament, have to do with us in the New Testament?

Galatians (Program #45) – Walking by the Spirit as Sons of God (2)

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “So then if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…” What is the new creation? Galatians (Program #44) – Walking by the Spirit as Sons of God (1)

Galatians, much like the book of Romans, reveals God’s salvation to us in a most dynamic and marvelous way. We are saved by faith, through grace and fully according to the operation of the Spirit and not by the works of law. But the revelation of the New Testament and of these books especially does not stop here. There is a goal to this salvation, a wonderful goal, that should become our goal as well. This was the deep burden of the apostle Paul in Galatians.

Galatians (Program #42) – Walk by the Spirit in the Enjoyment of Christ in our Spirit

To many people, the main item of the book of Romans is justification by faith and the main item in Galatians is to be free from the bondage of the law. Although both of these truths are present in these two books, the real goal and focus of both books is something else. For both Romans and Galatians reveal that God’s purpose or economy in justifying us and freeing us is for one thing – to make forgiven sinners into genuine sons of God in life.

Galatians (Program #42) – Walking by the Spirit According to to the Elementary Rule to Live

Galatians 3:26 identifies us as the very sons of God through faith in Christ. That means that we have become members of God’s household or His folks we could say. We could also say this is tremendous. But by chapter 6, these sons have now become God’s prince, the Israel of God. This goes beyond tremendous, and this is also the focus of today’s life study of the Bible.

Galatians (Program #41) – Walking by the Spirit to Live Christ

Before we were saved, most of us were quite aware that we and God were separate, far removed from each other. But after we’re saved, God is not separate and distant. Quite to the contrary, He was literally conceived in us and born into us. By regeneration, we and God have become one Spirit. How marvelous is this divine reality, but does it match our understanding?  Even more, does it match our experience? Don’t miss today’s life study of the Bible.

Galatians (Program #40) – Walking by the Spirit as The Essence of our Life

The book of Galatians gives us a clear contrast; the wonderful person of Christ is contrasted with the harsh and demanding law of the Old Testament. Surely all of God’s saved ones love this Christ. But, why then in our living do we embrace the principle of living by law rather than living by this attractive, divine person who came to replace the law?  This is our focus as we look at walking by the Spirit to live Christ on today’s edition of life study of the Bible.

Galatians (Program #39) – Walking in the Divine Rules and Steps By the Spirit

Great religions are present in virtually every corner of the earth. For the most part, they’re sincere, stress good, ethical, and moral teaching that are consistent with those of the Bible. Along side the great religions of the world stand culture and tradition. These three (religion, culture, and tradition) represent the highest and most noble attainments of human life. Yet, it is these three very positive things that God’s enemy specifically uses to distract and divert men from God and from His purpose. You will not want to miss today’s marvelous unfolding of the Word of God from the book of Galatians.

Galatians (Program #38) -Two Kinds of the Walk by the Spirit

The New Testament reveals that as believers in Christ, it should be our experience to walk by the Spirit. All genuine Christians desire such a spiritual walk, for out of it issues the fruit of the Spirit. But Galatians and other New Testament books reveals another kind of spiritual walk – a walk that does not only produces fruit of the Spirit but accomplishes God’s goal as well.
