Jeremiah (Program #1) – An Introductory Word

The prophet Jeremiah in the Old Testament was raised up by the Lord during a particularly difficult time in Israel’s history.  During the forty one years during Jeremiah’s ministry, Israel was carried away into exile at least three times. Certainly, this negative history is an important part of the book of Jeremiah but there also is a marvelous aspect to this book as it unveils the restoration of Israel as well as God’s tenderheartedness and righteousness in His care for His chosen people even in the midst of their frequent rebellion. And of course, as it’s always the case in this life study of the Bible, we will see Christ revealed in the context of His divine economy today and throughout this new life study of Jeremiah.

Hebrews (Program #62) – The Budding Rod (2)

We trust the Lord as the Spirit to enlighten us and humble us and re-educate us so that we may forsake the ways of the world and the customs of the nations and follow God’s way as revealed in God’s word.

Hebrews 9:4 mentions Aaron’s rod that budded. This mentions a profound element in God’s economy that is the resurrection life of Christ. But to get into that significance is to mention something critical and how God will accomplish His eternal purpose.

Hebrews (Program #61) – The Budding Rod (1)

In this message we see that Aaron’s budding rod is a type of the resurrected, living, feeding Christ as God’s authority. May we all get into the Holy of Holies, that is, into our spirit to enjoy this Christ as the resurrection life for the fulfillment of God’s eternal purpose.

When rebellion rose up among God’s people, He provided a test to make clear who was His chosen authority. This case makes for an interesting Bible story but far more the details reveal remarkable insights into God’s heart’s desire for the accomplishment of His purpose.

Numbers (Program #17) – Journeying (10)

When God’s people rebel against Him by challenging the ones that God has selected to speak for Him and lead them, God’s response was severe and momentous; the earth opened up and swallowed the leaders of this rebellion.  Then the Lord came as a pillar of fire to consume others who had joined the rebellion.  These great miracles were associated with God’s judgment.  But when the time came for the Lord to vindicate Himself and His chosen ones, it was not a great miracle, but the smallest one; simply causing a dead and dried up stick to bud, blossom and bear fruit.

Numbers (Program #16) – Journeying (8-9)

Rebellion.  Of all the evils and sins of mankind none carry greater consequence nor evoke a more serious reaction from God.  That’s because the target or object of all rebellion is authority which comes from and signify God Himself.  God’s people Israel were caught up in acts of rebellion against God and His deputy authority on many occasions.  The book of Numbers records the accounts of several progressive stages of rebellion ultimately resulting in God’s judgment and wrath being poured out in a very sobering display.  The on-going and progressive rebellion of Israel in the wilderness is again our topic on our life study from Numbers.

Numbers (Program #15) – Journeying (7)

After many positive and wonderful miracles given to them in the wilderness, following their escape from Egypt, the children of Israel found themselves in the midst of escalating turmoil.  This turmoil would eventually results in serious rebellion among them, bringing in God’s judgment.  It was here however, in the midst of this turmoil that the Lord inserts chapter 15 in the divine record in the book of Numbers.  This chapter reminds God’s people of what they have previously learned regarding their need for the offerings and for keeping the Sabbath.  But just as the lessons depicted in the story of the Old Testament can be applied to our situation in the New Testament so does this reminder regarding the experience of Christ, typify by the offerings and the Sabbath have an application to us today.  We will look at these types in our program.

Leviticus (Program #29) – Uncleanness Issuing From Within Man (2) & (3)

Leviticus like several books in the Bible mentions the ancient disease of leprosy.  Why was leprosy given such attention in God’s revelation to mankind.  Well, leprosy is associated with one of the basic factors of man’s sinful condition and that is rebellion.  Who among us is free from rebellion? Maybe not in dramatic outward demonstrations but within even in its own most subtle manifestations rebellion lurks perpetually beneath the surface of almost every person.

Leviticus (Program #28) – Uncleanness in Human Birth

What does it mean to be clean in the eyes of God?   Does it mean that our behaviour is proper and according to His principles?  Or does it mean that we get down on our knees and determine before Him to be a better person or even a better Christian?   Well the Bible says that regardless of our behaviour or our determination there is no way to be clean if the source of what we are offering Him is the natural life we were born with regardless of how good we may think it is.   So what is God’s view of us and all mankind in our natural life?  We will see today that the very source of all human life is depicted in this riveting account in chapters 11 and 12 of Leviticus.
