Exodus (Program #109) – The Altar of Burnt Offering (6)

On one end of the tabernacle was the Holy of Holies with the Ark of the Testimony.   This piece of furniture was the very spot where God dwelt with man and where He could meet with man and speak to man.  At the opposite end in the Outer Court of the tabernacle was the altar of burnt offering.  This spot represents the very redeeming Christ who died for us and became the ultimate offering to God for man’s sin.  These two items in the tabernacle represent the two most powerful aspects of the Christian experience; Christ’s redemption and God’s presence.

The message we are talking about is going to bring us into an appreciation of the altar and its relationship to the Ark of Testimony that we covered a few weeks ago…

Exodus (Program #104) – The Altar of Burnt Offering (1)

The tabernacle of the Old Testament is a wonderful and vivid picture of God and His fellowship with man.  It was a structure with two ends; at one end was God Himself dwelling in the inner chamber, the Holy of Holies as it is called in the Bible.  AT the other end is the Outer Court, where even the common people can come and go.  As you enter into this tabernacle, the first thing you encounter is the altar of burnt offering.  It no doubt is meaningful that this first item confronting man as he approaches God is the altar.

This is a life study.  A life study really differs from a traditional or typical bible study.  These messages from Exodus probably demonstrates vividly as any that has been covered in these programs.  Today’s message dealing with the brass altar or the altar of burnt offering is particularly indicative of this principle.   Why is simply studying this matter academically and doctrinally not as relevant as looking at it in the way of life and according to our own experience?

Exodus (Program #100) – The Veil Within the Tabernacle (2)

The tabernacle was divided into two distinct segments or chambers; the Holy of Holies where God Himself resided and commune with His people.  The other chamber is the Holy Place, full of the things of God, even types of God, types of Christ, but not God Himself.  This is somewhat like our own walk, our own experience with the Lord Jesus.  Sometimes we are walking with the very person of Christ yet at other times we seems to be occupied just with spiritual things, with items but we are missing His living presence.

Today we conclude our fourth week of messages dealing with the tabernacle.   This has been a remarkable twenty programs because the types and pictures that we are seeing interpreted have been applied almost exclusively to our experience of Christ and not just teachings and doctrines.

Exodus (Program #99) – The Veil Within the Tabernacle (1)

The tabernacle is a marvelous, vivid picture of the deepest experiences of Christ by His loving believers.  The time spent to see the meaning and significance of its aspects and details is well worthwhile and will be richly rewarded by a deeper love and appreciation for Christ and His incomparable word.

Today we are going to consider the veil that was located within the tabernacle as a separation between the two chambers, the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies.  This aspect of the tabernacle is really quite mysterious to most people.  Both chambers contain items that clearly represents Christ and our experience of Christ.

Exodus (Program #87) – The Ark of the Testimony (4)

In the Old Testament, the blood of the sacrifice was sprinkled on the altar to atone for the sins of the people.  This blood was a precursor of the real blood shed for sin, the blood of Christ.  But in the Old Testament, there was another use for the blood.  It needed to be sprinkled on the cover of the Ark of the Testimony in the Holy of Holies, where the crucial items was not sins but the glory of God.  The blood sprinkled on the very spot where God met and spoke with man is our focus on today’s life study of the Bible with Witness Lee.

We are going to look at the tabernacle’s outward configuration…

Exodus (Program #82) – The Vision of the Tabernacle and Its Furniture and Concerning the Materials and the Pattern (2)

The Old Testament book of Exodus records the Exodus or exit of God’s people out of the bondage and slavery of Egypt. This is a marvelous type of our own salvation from the tyranny of sin and the world. Yet the actual Exodus occupies less than half of the chapter in the book of Exodus. So what is the focus of the rest of the book?
Stay with us today, we will discover far more than just our salvation from our sins and the world.

God’s revelation to Moses concerning the building of the tabernacle. This may be a fairly unfamiliar topic to many people. A brief word just what the tabernacle was in the Old Testament.

Actually was the goal of Exodus. This tabernacle was a material building, build out of specially designated materials that God reveal to Moses what to use and how to use it and detail. When you get the picture of the tabernacle as a whole. There is an outer court with a wall around it, not a board wall, nor a stone wall but a cloth wall goes all around the outer court. And at the entrance, that is from the wilderness where the Israelite lived coming into the tabernacle there is an entrance there with a curtain. more…

Hebrews (Program #61) – The Budding Rod (1)

In this message we see that Aaron’s budding rod is a type of the resurrected, living, feeding Christ as God’s authority. May we all get into the Holy of Holies, that is, into our spirit to enjoy this Christ as the resurrection life for the fulfillment of God’s eternal purpose.

When rebellion rose up among God’s people, He provided a test to make clear who was His chosen authority. This case makes for an interesting Bible story but far more the details reveal remarkable insights into God’s heart’s desire for the accomplishment of His purpose.

Hebrews (Program #59) – The Manna in the Golden Pot

In the Old Testament, manna was something given by God to his people openly and freely. But, a small portion of this manna was offered by the priest back to God and hidden within a golden pot in the Holy of Holies. This hidden portion in the golden pot represents something so rich in experience.

Hebrews (Program #51) – Discipline for Holiness

In today’s life study, we look at the Christian walk: A walk of holiness, righteousness, and peace as we enter into the Holy of Holies in our everyday Christian life.

The tabernacle of the old testament is a marvelous picture of our experience of Christ, and is a favorite theme in the book of Hebrews. At the center of the tabernacle is the Holy of Holies. Holy, because God’s very presence is there. But, we can also be there as we will see in today’s life study of the Bible.

Hebrews (Program #44) – Come Forward to the Holy of Holies and Do Not Shrink Back to Judaism

The call to come forward is a striking element in the book of Hebrews. God’s desire for us is not just to come forward to receive Him for salvation, but we need to live a life of continually coming forward to God in Christ and through the spirit for our daily living. This is our focus today on the life study of the Bible.

The program today is going to begin with a brief review of some of the points that we’ve been covering in our recent broadcasts. Then we are going to launch into an examination of this marvelous phrase that appears at least four times in Hebrews. In the Recovery version, this phrase is translated as “come forward”. It’s really one Greek word but it takes the two words “come forward” to capture the essence of it – and it’s a call from God to His people.
